About Peggy Threlkel – Executive Director

Since July 2007, Peggy Threlkel has served as the Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Winter Haven, leading with passion and dedication to empower young women. Before joining Girls Inc., she worked as a mental health professional, eventually managing a team that provided in-home mental health and social services to families.

With more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Peggy is deeply committed to helping others, especially girls and young women. At Girls Inc., she strives to create a supportive environment where girls can develop confidence, leadership skills, and reach their full potential. The mission to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold is one she takes to heart.

Peggy holds a B.A. in Psychology from Stetson University and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Barry University. Her dedication extends beyond her professional role—she has been an active member of the Junior League of Greater Winter Haven for over 25 years, serving in numerous leadership positions, including President. She is also deeply involved with First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, contributing in various capacities, such as Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school volunteer, and Chair of the Christian Education Committee. Additionally, she serves as a Ruling Elder and is a member of a local school advisory council, continuing her commitment to education and community engagement.
